Question: What type of Results Grading scheme is typically used for VET Courses?

In the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector in Australia, the results grading scheme typically focuses on competency-based assessment rather than traditional academic grading. This approach assesses whether a student can demonstrate the required skills and knowledge to meet the industry standards for a specific qualification.

The Results Grading schemes that can be used can be defined using Configuration and Setup > Result Grade

Question: How are Assessment methods and tasks setup in the Meshed Platform?

VET assessments are designed to be practical and relevant. Common assessment methods include:

  • Practical Demonstrations: Assessing students in a real or simulated work environment to demonstrate their skills.

  • Workplace Assessments: Evaluating performance in the actual workplace.

  • Written Tests and Assignments: Testing theoretical knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.

  • Projects and Portfolios: Compiling evidence of work over time to demonstrate competency.

  • Observations and Interviews: Conducted by trainers and assessors to verify skills and knowledge.

The Assessment methods and tasks that can be used are defined using Compliance > Academic Progress > Setup Assessment Tasks

The assignment (linking) of Assessment methods or tasks to timetabled classes are defined using Compliance > Academic Progress > Task Entry (Assessment methods and tasks should be defined first).
