Navigate to Admin > Configuration and Setup > Enrolment Fee

You can have different Enrolment Fees for different ELICOS Courses. You can also set up multiple Enrolment Fees for one ELICOS Course which will then be available to select from during the Application process.

Some institutions require students enrolling for ELICOS to take a placement test to assess their current English proficiency level. These tests often cover reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. This may include acceptance of standardized English test scores (such as IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE Academic) as evidence of English proficiency. Each institution would set its own minimum score requirements.

If at Step 2 the Applicant selects Yes for the question Have you completed a test of English Language Proficiency? then further details for the English Test can be entered. 

 The values for English Test types that can be selected can be defined using Configuration and Setup > System Fields Setup > English Test

After the Application is submitted this information is also made available to assist in recording the English Language testing and exemptions information (ESOS) for the Applicant and/or Student.

Selecting the ‘Publish’ checkbox will ensure that Intake is available for selection in Applications made using the Public Portal and the Agent Portal.

To setup Level Assessments for Subjects navigate to Course > Course Subject and select the Course

The Icon on the right side can be used to define and manage the Level Assessments for each Subject in the Course. Subjects can have Level Assessments setup e.g. Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing.

Note that the Icon for Level Assessments for each Subject is only available if the Course has the Course Level option set as Yes.

The grading schemes can vary somewhat between institutions, but they generally assess a combination of skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and overall language use. Continuous assessment methods ensure that students are consistently monitored and provided with feedback throughout the course.

Many institutions use a numerical or letter grading system (e.g., A, B, C, D, F) where each grade corresponds to a specific range of marks (see example below). Some use descriptors such as "Excellent," "Very Good," "Good," "Satisfactory," and "Needs Improvement."

The Results Grading schemes that can be used can be defined using Configuration and Setup > Result Grade

ELICOS proficiency levels typically follow a structured framework to categorize the English language skills of students. Here’s a brief outline of the common proficiency levels used:

• Beginner: Limited proficiency in English; understands and uses basic phrases and expressions.

• Elementary: Basic ability to communicate in familiar situations.

• Pre-Intermediate: Can handle everyday social and routine work situations.

• Intermediate: Capable of understanding and communicating in a range of situations, but with some difficulty.

• Upper-Intermediate: Generally effective in communicating in a variety of contexts, with occasional lapses.

• Advanced: Proficient in using and understanding English with ease in most situations.

These levels help structure the curriculum and ensure that students receive instruction appropriate to their current level of English proficiency, allowing for targeted improvement and progression through the levels. Successful completion often results in a certificate indicating the student's proficiency level.

ELICOS stands for English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students. These courses are designed to help international students improve their English language skills for academic, professional, or personal purposes.

The main objectives of ELICOS programs are to:

1. Enhance English Proficiency: Improve students' abilities in reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary.

2. Prepare for Further Study: Equip students with the necessary language skills to succeed in academic programs, such as undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, vocational courses, or other specialized training.

3. Facilitate Cultural Adaptation: Help students adapt to the cultural and social environment of Australia, making it easier for them to integrate and participate in the community.

4. Support Professional Development: Provide language training that can enhance career opportunities and professional communication skills.

ELICOS programs vary in length and intensity, ranging from a few weeks to several months, depending on the students' needs and goals. They also offer different levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced, to accommodate students with varying levels of English proficiency.
