Introduction


The Meshed Platform can be integrated with Power BI – a popular business analytics tool from Microsoft.

Create and view your own custom Dashboards in Power BI, using data from your Meshed Platform Reports, for interactive analysis, visualisations, and insights which are key to driving your organisation.  Power BI provides interactive visualisations with self-service business intelligence capabilities, where end users can create reports and dashboards by themselves, without having to depend on information technology staff or database administrators.


Overview


Standard integration of Power BI with your Meshed Platform provides:

  • Running Reports from within the Meshed Platform and sending the Report data to Power BI.
  • Visualisation of Meshed Platform Report data using Power BI features.
  • Connection of Users to Power BI from within the Meshed Platform using their Power BI credentials.

Sending Report Data to Power BI

To send Meshed Platform Report data to Power BI

  • From the Meshed Platform navigate to Reports menu
  • Select Category
  • Select Report required
  • Click View to generate report
  • Click the Power BI icon



  • Report data is sent to Power BI and a confirmation message is displayed




To enable sending Meshed Platform Report data to Power BI the following must be completed:

  • Configuration of the connection between the Meshed Platform and Power BI
  • Setup of a Power BI app Workspace for Meshed Platform Reports data



Using Report data in Power BI


To use Meshed Platform Reports data in Power BI

  • Navigate to https://app.powerbi.com
  • Log in using credentials
  • Select the Dataset in the required Workspace
  • Note that Users can view the Meshed Platform Report in Power BI



  • Click Create report



  • Users can visualise the Meshed Platform Report data using Power BI functionality




To use Meshed Platform Report data in Power BI the following must be completed:

  • Configuration of the connection between the Meshed Platform and Power BI
  • Setup of a Power BI app workspace for Meshed Platform Reports data



Connection to Power BI


To configure Power BI integration Meshed Platform Clients are required to provide the Meshed Technical Team with their Power BI:

  • Username
  • Password
  • Client ID
  • Workspace ID


The Meshed Technical Team can work with Meshed Platform Clients to guide them on how to configure their Power BI connection if required.


Power BI Workspace


Integration requires the setup of a Power BI app workspace for Meshed Platform Reports data.
